Editorial policy

Accuracy

Every factual statement we publish must be traceable to a source a reader can open. Where we rely on a secondary source, we say so. Where we cannot establish a fact to our own satisfaction, we do not publish a rating on it.

Sourcing and transparency

We link sources inline, at the level of the individual point rather than the article, and we maintain a complete public source index. We do not use anonymous sourcing for factual claims.

Independence of editorial and advertising

Advertising on this site is served programmatically by third-party networks. Advertisers have no influence over, and no advance sight of, our editorial content. We do not accept payment to publish, alter, withhold or remove a claim analysis. Sponsored content, were we ever to publish any, would be labelled as such on the page.

Independence from political organisations

This site takes an editorial position on the claims it analyses. Readers are entitled to know who stands behind it: the publisher and responsible editor are named on our about page. Any funding relationship that could reasonably affect how a reader weighs our work will be disclosed there.

Right of reply

Any individual or organisation whose statement we analyse may respond. Write to support@jhootkigoonj.in with the page URL and the evidence you wish us to consider. We aim to acknowledge within five working days. Substantive responses are published alongside the analysis or, where appropriate, as an update to it.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it on the page and log it publicly on our corrections page, with the date and the nature of the change. We do not quietly delete or rewrite published analyses.

Comments on named individuals

We analyse public statements made in a public, political capacity. We do not publish material about the private lives of the people whose statements we check, and we do not publish personal abuse. Criticism on this site is directed at claims and at the public record, not at persons.
